Conveyancing is the legal process of transferring ownership of real property. Your lawyer prepares and registers the transfer documents, and arranges the flow of funds. If anything about the title or the contract needs attention, it is far better to find out before closing than after.

Do I need a lawyer or a notary?
In BC, both lawyers and notaries public handle conveyancing. As a law firm, we can also advise you if a legal issue comes up in the transaction. For example, a title problem, a contract dispute, or a question about ownership structure.
What happens if completion is delayed?
Delays happen. Lenders, documents, or funds can run late. We keep both sides informed and work to close as soon as possible. What a delay means for your contract depends on its terms, which is another reason to have the contract reviewed early.
Can I buy with family members, or in a company name?
Yes, but tell us before closing documents are prepared. Joint ownership, family contributions, and corporate purchases each have different document and tax consequences, and fixing the structure after registration is much harder than getting it right first.
