Sampson Pun brings an distinctive combination to his legal practice: he was an engineer before he was a lawyer. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering (with Distinction) and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Calgary, then worked as a software developer and quality engineer at Research in Motion (BlackBerry). He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary, articled at a leading intellectual property firm, and served as general counsel of a medical device manufacturing company in North Vancouver. This experience shaped his practical, business-minded approach to legal problems.
Today, Sampson’s practice spans both litigation and solicitor’s work. He has conducted matters before the Federal Court, the British Columbia Provincial Court, the British Columbia Supreme Court, and the British Columbia Court of Appeal with broad experience in commercial and family litigation, including creditors’ remedies, property disputes, contract disputes, civil fraud, and shareholders’ disputes. On the solicitor’s side, he has worked with many small and medium businesses on asset and share purchase transactions, corporate and bridge financing, commercial tenancy and leasing, corporate structuring, joint venture agreements, and intellectual property protection. He is also a registered trademark agent, advising clients on Canadian trademark applications, registration strategy, prosecution, and brand protection.
Outside of work, Sampson is an avid badminton player and golfer. Sampson can often be found driving throughout the Greater Vancouver to find court and tee times that fit into his busy schedule.
